YEUNG FAN gets through the gate of hell trying to see Yama and to make a false accusation against SIT TING SHAN. Along the road, he is stopped by SIT YAN KWAI and is in turn cast down into hell. FAN vows to seek revenge on KWAI and to have his whole family killed. SHAN, accompanied by his wife FAN LEI FA and their son SIT KONG, has come to attend CHING NGAU KAM’s 100th birthday feast. The Tang Emperor LEE CHI and the Crown Prince LEE HIN also make an appearance to celebrate KAM’s birthday. In the middle of the feast, KONG loses patience with HIN’s arrogance and falls out with him. After dinner, the Princess of County Wing Tai, also known as Princess NGAI SIU SZE, gives a dance performance in front of the guests. She is happy to meet the Emperor and the Prince again and the three of them have had a good long chat. HIN has a crush on SZE and tries to cuddle up to her. But SZE stops him and turns him down straight away……

TIN sends CHEUNG TIN TSO to see SHAN and to convince him to be his assistant. KAM means to mess things up, which causes CHEUNG PO and KONG to quarrel and start a conflict. TIN has another idea in her head – she is going to give SHAN a knighthood, through which she hopes to weaken his military power. SZE meets KONG again and is so impressed by his courage. They are very compatible and get on so well together. KONG and PO have got into a quarrel again, during which KONG loses his mind and hits PO hard. SHAN visits the CHEUNGS to make a formal apology but ends up getting slagged off by TSO. SZE is summoned to see TIN who means to put her to the test. TIN realizes SZE is just an innocent young girl and there is no need to keep her under watch. KONG’s devilish nature emerges again, which drives him to kill UNCLE FOOK. In a split second, FA arrives and stops him in time. FA notices KONG’s strange behavior and wonders what has happened to him……

Realizing that KONG has caused great trouble, HUNG decides to take him to KAM’s home to seek shelter. TSO grabs the chance to speak ill of SHAN and KONG in front of TIN, which has caused her to turn against SHAN. SAM-SZE, as instructed by TIN, arrives at KONG’s home to arrest him. Having not succeeded in capturing KONG, SAM-SZE finds an excuse to bring SHAN and FA to the palace and throw them in jail. TIN takes the opportunity to invite SHAN and FA to join her group but the couple turns her down without delay. Knowing that his parents have been arrested, KONG turns to KAM for help. KAM heads towards the palace to see the Emperor but TIN forbids anyone from getting near him. KAM has no choice but to leave. KAM brings KONG to SZE to ask for her assistance. SZE agrees to their request and manages to have an audience with the Emperor……

The Emperor heads for the Royal Temple for the Autumn Worship, without knowing that TIN has hatched a plot to kill him. Suddenly an earthquake strikes, thus saving the Emperor from being murdered. SHAN resigns from the cabinet but the Emperor sincerely asks him to stay. Though reluctant at first, SHAN withdraws his resignation. A strange fresco has been found in the Royal Temple, which has confused and scared everyone. FA realizes the fresco needs to be decoded to reveal a secret and she suggests the Emperor approach TSUI MAU KUNG for further advice. KONG and HUNG, who have been very curious about the fresco, mean to make KAM drunk and steal his gold pass so that they can get into the Royal Temple and have a look at the fresco. KONG gets terribly frightened as soon as he takes a peek at the fresco……

KONG notices that his parents have got very perplexed recently. He then goes to see KUNG to find out what has happened. KUNG brings him to the Royal Temple for a peek at the fresco and comes to realize the lad has been possessed by FAN’s spirit. In seconds, KONG has lost his sanity and KUNG immediately tries to exorcize FAN’s spirit but in vain. KUNG has got seriously injured. He tells KONG the truth and advises him to stay home for the next 100 days or something terrible will happen to his family. KUNG is then left paralyzed and mute. Having noticed how KUNG suffers, the Emperor feels very bewildered. TIN means to pester him with trivial things in order to make him more burdened. The Emperor wants HIN to marry SZE so that SZE can help him rule the country after his coronation. SZE, however, thinks that HIN is not tough enough to be her Mr. Right. TIN plans to assassinate the Emperor at the Lantern Festival……

KONG has gone insane and is going to kill FA. FA is in great danger and everyone there, including SZE, tries to shield FA from his attack. SZE seems to have some control over KONG and KONG has soon got his sanity back. SHAN and FA ask KONG about his sudden bout of madness but KONG appears to be trying to conceal something. SHAN and FA have become suspicious of their son and decide to spy on him. KONG turns to KUNG for advice on how to exorcize FAN’s spirit. Much to his disappointment, KUNG cannot give him any help. Ashamed and angry, KONG intends to take his life but is immediately stopped by FAN’s spirit. Meanwhile, FA passes by and has spotted everything. KONG tells her the truth and begs her to kill him. FA gives him a few words of consolation by promising to help him drive the evil spirit out but she advises him not to say a word to his father about that. FA tries but fails to exorcize the spirit……

SAM-SZE comes to FA’s funeral to bring SHAN the edict which instructs him to attend the Lantern Carnival. SHAN rejects the request by pointing out that his wife has just passed away and that he is not in the mood for the Festival. SAM-SZE goes on to threaten him and is finally thrown out of the funeral chamber by KAM. While still looking for a way to exorcize the spirit, SHAN decides to put KONG in irons. After knowing about SHAN’s refusal to attend the Lantern Carnival, TIN has just thought of another excuse to make him show up. HIN overhears TIN and TSO discussing their plan to kill the Emperor. Unfortunately TIN discovers him and forces him to gang up with them. HIN is later on placed under house arrest. The Emperor is accompanied by TIN all through the Lantern Carnival. HIN manages to sneak away and flies off to tell SZE of the plot. SZE hurries to inform SHAN but SHAN is already on his way to the Carnival……

KONG sneaks into KAM’s house to tell him how the Emperor was killed. He suggests breaking into the prison to save SHAN but KAM urges him to remain patient and wait for the chance. HIN refuses to be crowned but TIN keeps putting pressure on him, which makes him finally give in. As instructed by TIN, HIN has got the notorious TSO and SAM-SZE knighted, which irks KAM immensely. TIN plans to find HIN a wife but HIN rejects the idea, which makes her realize he is in love with SZE. She then goes to warn SZE not to see HIN again. SZE has arranged a farewell gathering with HIN so that they will have a chance to meet again and discuss how to fight against TIN. KAM sneaks into the Royal Temple to see HIN, who is attending a memorial service for his ancestors. He begs HIN to release SHAN while TIN orders HIN to have SHAN executed at once. HIN is strongly opposed to killing SHAN, so TIN, though reluctantly, has to give up……

TIN not only gives the command to execute SHAN, but also decides to wipe out all the officials who vow to stay loyal to the Tang Dynasty. KAM is on the wanted list but luckily he manages to escape with KONG to a cave. TIN continues to search for KONG, KAM and KUNG. CHUI YIN has successfully escorted KUNG away from home by carrying him on his back. TIN moves on to another target SZE, who manages to flee with the deceased Emperor’s last will and testament. TIN brings the Tang Dynasty to an end and declares herself the new queen of the land. On one hand, she instructs HIN to make his way to the City of Changzhou, and on the other she orders PO to catch him and take his life. HIN is beaten and falls off the cliffs. KAM, KUNG and SZE can finally meet again. As soon as he sees SZE, KUNG loses control and bites his tongue. He has then written a few words in blood advising SZE to bathe KONG in water so as to exorcize the evil spirit……

As everybody is ready for the exorcism, KONG begins to feel anxious and uncomfortable. He is so troubled that he has made several attempts to foil their plan. But against all odds, they manage to tackle the problems and begin to perform exorcism. A dreadful war between humans and the demon has soon started. KUNG has sacrificed himself to cast the demon out and KONG, after grueling hours of struggle, lapses into unconsciousness. When he comes around, he fails to recall what happened before. He is shocked to hear that KUNG is dead and when he learns the truth from YIN, he gets totally worked up and goes mad again. Luckily KAM and SZE are there to calm him down, which prevents him from losing his sanity. PO, accompanied by a troop of soldiers, has come to arrest KAM, KONG, YIN and SZE. KAM suggests taking separate routes to escape. YIN goes to meet CHING NGAU while SZE and KONG flee to Ching’s Village……

KONG and SZE have fled to CHUN FA’s home, where SZE falls ill. KONG looks after her in the best way possible and the pair seems to have taken an important step in their relationship. KONG and SZE meet YIN again. YIN tells SZE about the deaths of KAM and SHAN but SZE asks him to hide the news from SHAN. The guys carry on with their journey to Ching’s Village. Along the way, they meet CHING NGAU, who has become a thief. From NGAU, KONG learns that SHAN is killed. Plunged into shock and grief, KONG decides to get back to the capital city with NGAU and to steal the bodies of SHAN and KAM in order to give them a proper burial. KONG, NGAU and YIN sneak into the graveyard, where they are besieged by the soldiers and constables led by PO. Fortunately, with the help of HUNG, they manage to escape and hide themselves in the Royal Temple. Meanwhile, inside the Temple, CHEUNG CHUNG, a trusted aide of TIN, is trying to rape his maid YUEN YEE……

After serious consideration, CHEONG decides to join the revolution. He and his group follow NGAU back to Ching’s Village, which has been completely destroyed by fire. Thinking that SZE is killed in the fire, KONG feels heartbroken. Poor HIN, who has become a homeless beggar, is mistaken for a thief and sent to prison, where he is locked up with the chief robber. The deputy leader of the robbers has come to save their Big Brother. HIN, who is rescued along with the chief robber, happens to save him from danger. The chief robber is so grateful to him that he asks to become HIN’s sworn brother. The deputy leader has caught SZE during a robbery. Coincidentally, both the chief robber and the deputy leader have fallen in love with SZE. HIN and SZE, after meeting again, mean to sow discord between the chief robber and the deputy leader……

Knowing that HIN still survives, TIN has sent SAM-SZE to kill the lad. HIN and HUNG, without careful planning, sneak into SAM-SZE’s camp in an attempt to kill him. He gets caught but is finally rescued by KONG. This rescue operation has, however, resulted in a terrible blow to KONG’s army. KONG has no choice but to turn to the Kingdom of New Tang for help. The King of New Tang is suddenly attacked by a hitman. Immediately LAW SO WAH turns up to fight against the enemy. She tries to catch the hitman but ends up being captured by the guy. Meanwhile, KONG passes by and saves her from the hands of the hitman. KONG is invited to have an audience with the King of New Tang, during which he is shocked to discover that WAH is the Princess of New Tang. HIN asks the King for military support but is rejected. WAH tries to convince the King with the same request but is again rejected……

The King of New Tang does not approve of the engagement and will only allow KONG to become WAH’s sworn brother. TIN has sent a hitman to kill the King but the man is eventually driven away by KONG. HIN grabs the chance to ask for military support but is once again rejected. The King finally gives in to WAH’s demand and grants his consent to her marriage to KONG. He then asks KONG to set a date for the wedding. KONG is reluctant to take WAH to wife but HIN keeps pressuring him. SZE, having followed HIN’s advice, tries to persuade KONG to marry WAH. Being left with no choice at all, KONG reluctantly agrees to wed WAH. Upon their marriage, the King of New Tang offers KONG a loan of 300,000 soldiers on condition that he agrees to declare himself the new Emperor after the overthrow of TIN’s government. KONG, however, refuses to betray HIN and has therefore infuriated the King immensely……

WAH gets so upset when she senses the strong affection between KONG and SZE. SZE confides in WAH talking about her relationship with KONG. WAH feels better and begins to put her doubts aside having realized how KONG cares about her. KONG and WAH get back to the Kingdom of New Tang to steal the military statement but are unfortunately discovered by the King. The King is willing to offer KONG a loan of 100,000 soldiers provided that WAH disassociates herself from the royal family and breaks off their father-daughter relationship. With tears in her eyes, WAH promises. HIN has captured the City of Fangzhou and defeated thousands of soldiers led by SAM-SZE. He is very pleased about his success but KONG disapproves of his military tactics and reminds him to be more careful in the future. HIN is irked by KONG’s words and decides to remove his military power. HIN goes to war to get the City of Qianzhou but ends up being besieged by the enemies……

KING is seriously injured and later passes away. Filled with grief and anger, YIN now remains even more steadfast in his belief that HIN is not a good leader. He would like to have KONG as their new Emperor but KONG refuses straight away. HUNG later reveals this to HIN and HIN vows to remove KONG and his mates when they are no longer of use. HIN offers the throne to KONG but KONG turns him down without hesitation. HIN appoints KONG the Chief of Military Affairs, so KONG and WAH decide to return to the Kingdom of New Tang for help. KONG and WAH manage to get back home but the King of New Tang refuses to offer help. WAH explains that there are advantages for becoming their ally and the King finally promises to offer them a further loan of 100,000 soldiers, which gives KONG a great thrill. KONG leads the soldiers back to Qianzhou, where they have defeated their enemies and rescued HIN……

HIN is still scared of TIN and dare not kill her. He decides to keep her in jail for the time being. Remembering how KONG risked his life to save SZE, WAH resigns herself to the fact that KONG and SZE are still in love with each other and that she will never be a patch on SZE. Being plunged into despair, she decides to make her way back to her home country in the middle of the night. Along the way she happens to meet SAM-SZE and SHING YIP, who are trying to kill HIN. She is shocked to the core and immediately turns back to inform KONG of this. Unfortunately SAM-SZE has discovered her. She is caught and severely injured. Though KONG has arrived in time to drive SAM-SZE away, WAH is so seriously injured that she dies that night. Before she takes her last breath, she tells KONG of the plot by TIN. KONG is devastated by her death and breaks down in tears. Upon his coronation, HIN manages to capture TIN and her group……

KONG and SZE have got back to the capital city. HIN, with the help of HUNG, has tricked KONG into believing that NGAU got killed because of his attempt to betray the country. KONG, who is deeply saddened by NGAU’s death, asks to step down. HIN pretends to accept his resignation and promises to let him go. SZE sees through HIN. She realizes that it is just a plot and rebukes HIN for his scandalous behavior. She claims she will live in seclusion for the rest of her life, which infuriates HIN greatly. KONG visits NGAU’s grave to pay a tribute. Suddenly YIN appears and tells him the truth. KONG flies into a rage and kills HUNG to avenge NGAU’s death. He goes on to take HIN’s life but HIN has successfully persuaded KONG to let him off. KONG leaves the palace to look for SZE so that the two of them can return to the Kingdom of New Tang together. He is so upset to know that SZE has left without saying a word. Everybody has turned against HIN……
