The IT bubble - ecstasy and collapse

The financier Klaus Riskær and the entrepreneur Martin Thorborg have the same business idea: they want to bring the internet to ordinary Danes. Klaus Riskær opens Cybercity in posh premises on Esplanaden, while Martin Thorborg and his friends pool their money and start Cybernet in the dark basement of a computer shop. And so begins the race to get Danes on the internet.

Young rocker Jakob Risgaard is convinced that you can sell DVDs online and sets up a warehouse in his grandmother's house. Morten Wagner is tired of his girlfriend, which gives him an idea: Find a girlfriend online! It turns into dating.dk, but no one believes in the idea. On the other hand, Jubii is on the up and up; here, the famous stripper Kira Eggers has created an erotic channel, and people are willing to pay for it.

The IT industry is one big party with soft machines, free coke, scooters for all employees and Christmas parties on the Oslo boat. Because the internet has broken through, anything is possible, and confidence in the industry is rising in line with its popularity. But the uncrowned king of the Danish internet, Martin Thorborg, is seeing the other side of the coin, as the media is not only after the positive stories.

Money is being thrown at anything dotcom related because everyone wants a piece of the digital pie. Sky-high offers are pouring in for all the small IT companies, and Caroline Søeborg becomes a millionaire overnight. Jubii gets an offer from Yahoo that could change their lives forever. But there's a dilemma: if they take it, they have to fire their employees and hand the company over to Yahoo.

Something is wrong. IT stocks are plummeting overnight and uncertainty is spreading. Jakob Risgaard is called to the bank and asked to be personally liable for his debts in the company - he hasn't heard of the IT bubble, so he agrees. The next day, the whole thing collapses and Jakob is left with millions in debt that needs to be repaid.

The adventure is over. All the millions have disappeared, there are bankruptcies and layoffs everywhere, and now it's just a matter of survival. Morten Wagner and dating.dk only have just enough money to get through a couple of months before they have to turn the key. But then his father comes up with a proposal that might save the company - even though it goes against Morten's principles.
