Mart is lonely and bored in a new dormitory, until she meets her roommate. Janine urges Pierre to tell his mother about their emigration, but he discovers an old letter and something is not right.

Mart and Dalena visit Simon and his strange friend - Dalena is instantly in love. Janine is emotional in front of Mart, who interprets this as a sign for serious intervention.

The girls are planning a sneaky weekend to Pretoria, but Dalena reckons she needs precautions. Pierre and Janine's travel plans are put on hold while Ma Mart broods over London.
