Andrei Klimchak, a recent graduate of the Militia School and nephew of a high-ranking Interior Ministry official, is placed at the disposal of the freedom-loving and unyielding Captain Sharonov, nicknamed Sheriff. From the very beginning, the young lieutenant annoys the Sheriff with everything, but together they have to investigate the murder of banker Kushakov.
